OUR PASTOR


DR. VINCENT L. GOLDEN, SR.
DR. Vincent L. Golden, Sr. was born in Jackson, Tennessee. He graduated from West High School
in 1985 and enrolled at the Jackson State Community College. He is married to Sonia Golden, and they are the parents of four daughters and one son. They have six grandchildren.

Pastor Golden is a bi-vocational pastor, he has been pastoring for 18 years, and he has worked for Target Corporation for 29 years. Pastor Golden accepted the Lord as His personal savior at an early age at the Cerro Gordo Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee. He served there as a Jr. Deacon throughout his teenage years. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1994 under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Bowens at the Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, while there he was a Youth Group Leader where he organized the group “From Boys to Men” in 1995.

In 1996 Pastor Golden answered God’s call to preach the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. He was licensed in 1997 by the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, and in October 1999, he was ordained while serving at the Triune Missionary Baptist Church. He was Co-Founder and Associate Minister while serving at the Triune Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gregory Mason. After moving to Ohio in 2003, he served as Associate Minister of the Springhill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Tommy L. Hicklin. In 2004 Pastor Golden was sent by God to Pastor the New Zion Baptist Church.
Pastor Golden graduated from United Bible Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida, in May 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies; Pastor Golden graduated on December 18, 2016, from The United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, with a Master’s degree of Divinity. Pastor Golden graduated in May 2021 from The United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, with a Doctoral Degree in Ministry.
In 2015, a significant milestone in Dr. Goldens ministry occurred when, with the guidance of the Lord, he successfully led the merger of two sister churches, Mt. Vernon Ave. Baptist Church and New Zion Baptist Church. This union formed The Unity Baptist Church of Columbus, where Dr. Golden now serves as pastor. He believes that this merger has created a stronger foundation for all members to work together more effectively in building the Kingdom of God. Dr. Golden is deeply committed to his calling, with a heartfelt desire to preach, teach, and minister Gods Word in a way that is accessible and understandable to all.

Dr. Golden served as the Moderator of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association for six years. He currently holds several leadership positions, including 1st Vice-President of the Baptist Pastors Conference of Columbus and Vicinity, Vice-President of the Ohio Baptist General State Convention, and Coordinator for Ministerial Training in the Baptist Ministerial Alliance of Columbus. A proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Dr. Golden lives by his life scripture, Romans 8:18: "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
