Dr. Vincent L. Golden, Sr. was born in Jackson, Tennessee. He graduated from West High School in 1985 and enrolled at the Jackson State Community College. He is married to Sonia Golden, and they are the parents of four daughters and one son. They have six grandchildren.

In 2015, a significant milestone in Dr. Golden's ministry occurred when, with the guidance of the Lord, he successfully led the merger of two sister churches, Mt. Vernon Ave. Baptist Church and New Zion Baptist Church.
